A Garden Escape!
Posted on January 11 2019
Happy New Year everyone, it’s Jane with you today! I hope that 2019 brings you all you could wish for!
So my first card of the New Year is a summery garden scene and I have a tutorial to share with you.
So sit back, grab a cuppa (and probably a couple of chocolate bars as it’s a long photo-filled post) and I will show you what I did.
First I took the smaller of the frame dies from the BUILD-A-CARD GARDEN ESCAPE die set (love, love, love this shape) and cut out a piece of watercolour card.
I then sprayed the card with water, making sure I also sprayed the back as this stops the card from buckling.
I added watercolours to create a very rough sky and grass effect and mopped up some of the sky for a softer, cloudier look.
I cut a smaller piece of watercolour card using the same die, as I only needed the bottom half.
I used some of the stunning stamps from the BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS stamp set to make a little ‘garden’ stamping on and over the bottom edge with my RAVEN HYBRID INK PAD.
I coloured with watercolour pens and fussy cut the top edge.
I took some black and brown card and cut three of the gates and just the main part of the trees from the BUILD-A-CARD GARDEN ESCAPE set.
I then added foam tape to the back and stuck them to my card.
I added slightly deeper foam tape to the back of my ‘garden’ to give added dimension and stuck that down too.
I coloured with watercolour again and also cut two further trees and some of the cute teeny flowers.
I arranged my little scene, gluing down when I was happy and cut away any of the die-cut pieces that fell over the edge.
I decided that I had a gap that needed filling (as you do) and the bird bath in the BUILD-A-CARD GARDEN ESCAPE set was perfect. It is such an amazing and useful die collection.
And there you go. A little birdie and a few pearl drops later and my summery garden escape is complete.
Something cheery for a cold January day.
