An Elegant Butterfly Wreath Card
Posted on July 17 2018
Hi friends. I'm happy to be back on the LDRS Creative blog today and I can't wait to show you what I've been working on. The first minute I saw the gorgeous Butterfly Wreath die set in the store, I knew I needed to have it in my collection. I love the delicate nature of it and how it can command a card front with little else.
To make my card, I started by creating the background. I used some Yupo paper and alcohol inks to create the gorgeous background. After my panel was dry, I die cut the Butterfly Wreath die with my die cutting machine, making sure to run it through a couple of times in 2 or 3 different directions. This is such an intricate die but by running it through different times, I was able to get perfect results.
I added my die cut Butterfly Wreath die to some gold glitter card stock with lots of foam tape to add some dimension.
I then die cut the Hello Word die once out of a dark green card stock and then 4 times from some gold foil card stock. I adhered all the gold die cuts together. I then adhered the green hello die cut directly to my Butterfly Wreath die cut. I then added the gold die cuts, slightly offset, to add a bit of dimension and to help the die cut word stand out more. This definitely helps the sentiment not get so lost on the background.
My card measures 5.5 square and I have to tell you, I haven't made a square card in so long but I thought this Butterfly Wreath die would be better suited for a square card. I absolutely love how this came out.
TIP: Save the heart pieces from the Butterfly Wreath die. There are a couple sizes of perfect hearts that would be great to save for a future card or you could use them to embellish the current card you are working on.
