Flip Card Tutorial
Posted on June 29 2018
Hello there! It's Andrea with you today. I'm sharing a flip card created with the Happy Days Circle Die Set. My card also features the adorable girl from the Mini Winnie Boutique set, flowers from the Pinafore Build-A-Card Dies, papers from Time for Tea and Pretty Perfect, and a sentiment from Wishing You.
I really enjoy making interactive cards, and a flip card is so easy to create. The process involves partial die-cutting. Normally, when you create the "sandwich" for your die-cutting machine, both plates of the machine fully encompass the die and the material you're cutting. For partial die-cutting, the top plate of your sandwich does not cover the entire die, and the part that is not covered by the plate does not cut through the material.
I almost always start my projects by stamping and coloring the images I plan to use, which is what I did this time. With Raven Hybrid Ink, I stamped the cute girl from Mini Winnie Boutique and colored her with alcohol markers. I used the accompanying die to cut her out.
I trimmed some white cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored it at 4 1/4". I also scored my paper at 2 1/8", but I recommend marking that line lightly with a pencil instead so you don't have a scoreline in the middle of your project. Luckily, I was able to smooth out most of the crease with a bone folder. I centered the scalloped die from the Happy Days Circle Die Set over the 2 1/8" line and, using the method described above, partially die-cut the circle from my cardbase.
I folded the card in half at 4 1/4" and folded the top flap back at 2 1/8". Using the scalloped die again, I die-cut a strip of floral paper from Pretty Perfect and adhered it to the flap. The lavender paper is from Time for Tea. I die-cut it with the smaller circle from Happy Days and popped it up with foam tape onto my card.
I added the colored image with dimensional adhesive to the front of the card. The striped paper is from Pretty Perfect. I trimmed it to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and adhered it to the inside of my card.
With Raven Hybrid Ink, I stamped a sentiment from Wishing You on the inside of my card. The flowers were created with some of the smaller dies from Pinafore Build-A-Card Dies. I brushed some clear sparkle onto Winnie's bow and dress.
I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and that you'll try making a flip card, too. You'll be surprised at how easy it is! Thanks for stopping by!
