Sleigh Ride Border die

This beautiful girl is from the Let Love Grow stamp set that will be available in March. Isn't she fabulous?!?!  When I first saw her, she reminded me of one of my BEST friends growing up... My friend lived across the street from me, and we spent countless hours together. She was Polynesian, and for talent shows, she and her family would do traditional Polynesian dances... I was always MESMERIZED by the rhythms, movements, costumes, and the stories the dances told... Beyond dancing, she had the biggest, kindest heart! I was lucky to call her a friend then, and I am blessed to call her a friend still!

I'm not sure if it was the hair all piled on her head, or the flowers in her hair.. but something about this stamp made me want to make a card in honor of my friend. So I went with darker skin tones and beautiful black hair. I did most of my coloring with Copics, but I added some metallic gold ink to the necklace, headband, and the tips of the feathers.

I stamped the cluster of roses several times and fussy cut them out.. Some of the roses I glued right on to the card, some I added some foam underneath to give it more dimension.  I also fussy cut out some extra leaves to fill in some of the spaces.

The card itself was made using the new Build a Card Heart Felt die set... It has a die that cuts the shaped card base, and one for the front panel... It also has a bunch of decorative elements like these arrow hearts. This makes it SUPER easy to create shaped cards, or to use the different elements in a regular card or LO. I wanted to add more layers to my card front, so I cut the front panel out of multiple pieces of paper, and then used the Sleigh Ride border die to cut some fancy edges and built my layers from there. I love all the stitched details in these dies!

To finish it up, I painted the hearts with the same metallic gold ink I used on the girl.

I'm SO excited for all the amazing things coming to LDRS Creative, and I hope you guys are too!!! What items are you most excited for?
