Cute and Cozy Acorn Cubby Card

Hi everyone! Jen here! Have you checked out the new Festive Holidays Collection yet? If not, you’re seriously missing out — it’s absolutely incredible! I’ve been having the best time crafting with it, and the Acorn Cubby Dies have quickly become my favourite part of the whole release. I’ve made so many cards with this adorable little set that my craft table is now a full‑blown craftermath — and honestly, I regret nothing!

This tutorial walks you through exactly how I made my card, from the materials to the finishing touches, so you can recreate it or customise it in your own style.

I began by scoring and folding a US A2 card base from white cardstock. To create the first layer, I cut a coordinating panel of ivory cardstock measuring 4 1/4 × 5 1/2 inches. This panel was dry‑embossed using a dotty stencil from the Pattern Background Stencil Pack, adding a soft, tactile finish that instantly elevates the design.

Once embossed, I trimmed the panel down to 4 1/8 × 5 3/8 inches and mounted it onto a dark brown A2 cardstock panel. This rich, contrasting layer frames the ivory beautifully. I adhered the completed panel to the card base to form the foundation of the design.

To introduce a subtle grounding element for the focal image, I blended Snowy White ink onto grey cardstock using the diagonal stripe stencil from the same stencil pack. After allowing the ink to dry completely, I trimmed a narrow strip from the panel and adhered it across the centre of the card. This simple detail adds balance and visual interest without overwhelming the design.

The star of the card is the adorable raccoon cutie. I die‑cut the raccoon and his acorn from various shades of brown and grey cardstock, then assembled the pieces with liquid glue. For an extra touch of charm, I cut the eye pieces from pink cardstock and used them as rosy cheeks. Doubling up a few of the layers also added wonderful dimension.

This die set includes a super helpful assembly guide, making it easy to put these little critters together — even if you’re new to layered die‑cutting.

To create a soft, woodland feel, I used the Mini Foliage Dies and Petite Petals, cutting pieces from vellum and several shades of sage cardstock. I also die‑cut two pinpoint circles and adhered them together to give the focal base extra sturdiness.

I arranged the foliage and raccoon onto the layered circle, creating a sweet little vignette. The entire focal piece was then popped up on foam tape and placed on the left side of the card base for added dimension and balance.

For the sentiment, I stamped a greeting from the Acorny Hello stamp set using watermark ink and heat‑embossed it with cream embossing powder. After die‑cutting the sentiment with one of the Wildwood Sentiment Frame & Tag Dies, I adhered it to the bottom right corner of the card base to complete the layout.

To bring everything together, I added a few iridescent pearls for a touch of shine and used a white gel pen to add small highlights to the raccoon. These tiny details make such a difference and help the whole card feel polished and cohesive.

And just like that — the cutest little critter card is complete. It’s sweet, dimensional, and perfect for sending a warm hello.
