Black & White Florals Against Alcohol Inked Backgrounds

Hi friends. Alanna here back with you showcasing a couple of cards using both the Love and Smell the Roses and the If Friends Were Flowers stamp and coordinating die set along with some alcohol inked backgrounds.

Here's both of them together. I am not a huge colorist but I absolutely love the Love and Smell the Roses and the If Friends Were Flowers stamp and die collections. The flowers are just so beautiful. Not to mention there are also some amazing sentiments. So I decided that I would add color to my backgrounds and then leave the flowers in just their black stamped form.

I created each of the alcohol inked backgrounds and set them aside to dry. I then stamped out the flowers and leaves from the Love and Smell the Roses set using the Raven Hybrid ink pad for the blue and purple background. For the red, yellow and green background, I stamped the flowers from the If Friends were Flowers set.

I love how crisp the Raven Hybrid ink pad stamps. If you haven't tried this ink, I highly recommend it. And while it didn't matter today since I didn't do any coloring, it's a great versatile ink that you can use with alcohol markers, water colors, colored pencils.

I added some of the flowers directly to my alcohol inked panel with liquid glue and then added others with foam tape to provide more dimension.

The sentiments for both cards came from the Love and Smell the Roses set. My plan was to stamp directly onto the background. However, the love word on one of the backgrounds smeared. An easy fix was to stamp the word and then use the coordinating die to cut out the word love. Crisis averted. :)

What do you think? Do you have a preference as to which card you like the best?

I hope you've been inspired today and realize that you don't always have to add color to your line art images. Crafty hugs!
