Butterfly Shaker

Hey Sam on the blog today. Continuing to play with the New LDRS Spring Collection. Really love the big dies that are in this release, so far I have played with the Large Leaf Dies and Large Flower Dies. You can find some inspiration for ink blending with the Large Leaf Dies and Large Flower Dies on my instagram feed @samjolden or LDRS blogs feature day. Today however I am creating a shaker butterfly with the Large Butterfly Die.

Get the Look:

  • PREP WORK: Die cut the Large Butterfly Die about 6 -8 times (depending how thick you want your shaker) out of white card stock.
  • Using a piece of white card stock that is slightly larger than the Large Butterfly Die ink blend in the centre outwards Dan-d-lion, Pink Tutu and Lipstick Jungle

  • Glue one of the Large Butterfly Dies to the piece of acetate. Let glue dry and then trim off the excess acetate.

  • Time to build the shaker frame: Since I wanted 4 shaker sections within my butterfly, I cut out the extra central die frame pieces to leave me with 4 pockets for sequins and beads. I did this for each butterfly layer of the shaker frame. Then glue the layers together to create a solid frame.

  • Adhere the frame to the ink blended background and, fill the wells with shaker bits and then glue on top the butterfly with acetate to seal off the shaker. Once glue is dry and shaker is solid, trim away the additional ink blended background.

  • Adhere the butterfly shaker to the plaid background and then adhere to A2 grey card base.

  • Heat emboss in white on black card stock a small sentiment from the Spring Gift Tag Stack set. Cut into a small strip and add to butterfly with foam tape.

  • Finish off your card with additional sequins and gems.

Hopefully you can have some fun turning your large dies into fun shaker elements. Happy Papercrafting : )
