From Rainbows to Peppermints

Hi, everyone! I love taking supplies that are meant for one thing and changing them into something else to get more use out of them. Today I'm using the Rainbow Bits die set from LDRS Creative to make a peppermint candy background for a Christmas card! Hope you love the video tutorial!
I started by die cutting the pieces for my peppermint candy background with the Rainbow Bits dies. I alternated the arches between the red textured cardstock and silver glitter cardstock. I think if I recreate this card again I'll use white glitter cardstock, but I thought the silver would be a nice touch and look less like a bullseye haha! I cut each piece twice so that I could make a full circle instead of the semi circle the die is intended to make. Once I had all the pieces cut I glued them together and turned the "rainbows" so the flat sides butted up next to each other and formed a peppermint candy!
My images and sentiment are from the Otterly Loveable stamp set. Aren't they just the cutest! I love the little igloo! And there are lots of accessories to dress up the otters, too! Of course I chose the Santa hat! I stamped them with Raven Hybrid Ink and then colored them and then used the coordinating Otterly Loveable dies to cut them out. My background is the same cardstock that I used to die cut the "peppermint" from, so I wanted it to be slightly different. I used the Scarlet Rose Mini Hybrid Ink and blended some of the dark red ink over the cardstock to darken the edges.
I used some foam behind the "peppermint" circle for dimension and adhered all of my other elements on top! I hope this encourages you to look at your "summer" products and use them in unique ways! See you soon!
