I Love Flowers and Smelling the Roses
Melissa here today and I am so in love with the two new sets at LDRS Creative, If Friends Were Flowers and the one I used for today's card, Love and Smell the Roses. You guys, these are the most beautiful and versatile stamp sets. If you don't do florals, it's worth it for the perfect sentiments! I love that the dies come right with the stamps too! That way the set is together without thought. Today, I'm going to show you how I created a beautiful Mother's Day card.
I want to do a no-line coloring so I stamped the flower images in Pink Tutu Hybrid Ink on alcohol ink friendly paper. No line coloring requires a lighter ink to stamp your images so that the ink doesn't show through as you color. Pink Tutu was perfect for this!
Next I chose paper from the 6x6 Sweet Sensations paper pad to match my alcohol marker colors to. Once those reds, yellows and oranges were chosen, I began to color.
I used the dies to cut out each individual piece I stamped and colored. The dies fit the flowers so perfectly, it was easy to line them up and run them through my die machine. The other amazing news - NO thin pieces to snip apart with a tool. These dies all come individual with no work involved.
I then used my Waffle Cone stencil with Swimming Hole Hybrid Ink to create a small panel. I simply placed the stencil on white paper cut 3.25 x 4.5 inches. In circular motion I aded the Swimming Hole Ink to the stencil and paper. I kept my touch light especially close to the sides. I didn't want the pattern full on the paper as I thought it looked a bit like a flower trellis.
I then stamped the love sentiment in Dan-D-Lion hybrid ink to match the yellow paper I chose from the 6x6 Sweet Sensations paper pad. I cut that piece to 4 x 5.25 inches. By the way, the Dan-D-Lion ink matches this paper perfectly! I love how the LDRS Creative products work so well together.
Before adhering the flowers to the card, I stamped a sending my sentiment with Alloy LDRS Creative Hybrid Ink. Last, I adhered the flowers on the trellis blue background with glue and foam dots for dimension.
I adore how this card turned out. I did add some sparkle to the roses and a few clear embellishments to finish. Truly, these sets are so wonderful to play with. It makes card making and design so simple.
Absolutely glorious coloring of these lovely florals.
