Magnificent Magnolias
Hello and welcome back to the inspiration blog. Today we are going to work with the amazing Sweet Magnolias suite of products! These products are all designed to mix and match and work together, which is a creators dream!
The products include the Sweet Magnolias Stamp Set, coordinating dies, Layering Stencils, and an amazing 3D Embossing Folder! Today I've made one complete card and a card panel for another card to show you two different methods.
I started by stamping the large magnolia stamp on a white A2 card panel in Raven ink. Please note, if you're wanting to use the embossing folder, you will want to die cut the image prior to embossing the image. Learn from my mistakes! :-) The image is extremely easy to line up in the embossing folder regardless if you die cut prior to embossing!
I lined the image up against the top panel of the folder and then closed the back against my fingers, while holding the panel in place. I carefully removed my fingers slowly, while squeezing the folder to hold the cardstock. Remember, die cut first!
Next, use the stencils to add color to the flowers and leaves. There are 5 stencils total. Three stencils for the flowers and two for the leaves. I started with the lightest color first and worked toward the darkest. The stencils are numbered 1-5 as you can see above, and are very easy to line up.
I used Pink Tutu, Soft Kisses, and Lipstick Jungle ink for the Flowers and Prickly Pear and Olive Branch ink for the leaves. The stamped image gives a lot of definition and detail to the finished work, but you do not have to use the stamp if you choose not to. I will show you the same work without the stamping later.
I put this card together with the new Mixed Scallop Rectangle Dies on an A2 white card base. I chose the sentiment from the Sweet Magnolias Stamp set and heat embossed it and die cut it from the coordinating dies.
As promised, I also did another card panel from the same set, but without the stamping first! This one is just embossed with the 3D folder and then ink blended with Fairie Dust, Parisian Purple, and Mrs. Periwinkle, then the same greens from the first card.
Which one do you like better? I haven't finished this one into a card yet, but it will make an appearance soon! This suite of products is to die for! I can't wait to see what you all create with it.
Crafty hugs, LeeAnn
