Tips for Ink Blending with Stencils on a Nested Postage Collage Shaker Card
Hi Sam here on the blog today with a fun way to add a new twist to the postage collage dies and stencils. I so enjoy the new Nested Postage Collage Dies and the complimenting stencil sets (have I mentioned I love to ink blend with stencils). I decided to put a spin on the postage collage by using the Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Layered Frames Die Set and turning the All Occasions Postage Collage Stencils into a shaker card.
Get the look:
-
Die cut the out the largest of Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Layered Frames Die Set out of white card stock.
-
Die cut out the postage frames from Nested Postage Collage Dies out of white card stock.
-
Pick out what colours you would like to use from the huge collection of LDRS Hybrid Inks. I choose Boysenberry Blast, Lipstick Red, Olive Branch, Key Lime Pie, Peachy Keen, Dan-D-Lion, Little Boy Blue, Bali Blue and Alloy.
-
Align the first stencil over the postage frame and ink blend. Continue to do the same with stencil 2 and 3.
-
Tip: For a simple blend use one colour per section
-
Tip: Stretch your colours by creating light ink colour and dark ink colour depending on how heavily you ink blend.
-
Tip: Step it up ink blend similar to my card using two ink colours per section.
- Tip: After stencilling mask off 2 corners of an individual postage frame. Using a complimentary colour and whatever ink is left on the brush, lightly ink blend. Repeat for all frames. This is certainly a step up choice but it is a great way to make the individual postage frames stand out even more than the die cut stitching.

Stamp Sentiment: Pick and stamp a sentiment from Snail Mail Collage Stamp Set
-
Assemble Card: Adhere postage frame to the diagonal stitched rectangle.
-
To turn it into a shaker, simply use a shaker sleeve and add you favourite shaker bits.
-
Lastly stamp, heat emboss and die cut one of the seals from Sealed With Comforting Wishes Stamp Set and add to the front of the shaker. Tip: multiple layers of embossing make for a thick, realistic looking seal.
Hope you ‘enjoy’ed . Happy papercrafting : )
