To begin this card project I cut down a full sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 inch white cardstock and cut it in half to create 2 panels each measuring 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. Next using a scoring board and a bone folder, I scored one panel and 2 1/8 inches. Then flipped it around 180 degrees and again scored it at 2 1/8 inches. This leaves you with a US A2 card base but with a gate fold at the front.

I cut the second white panel down into 2 x 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 panels, one of which was embossed with the Romantic Floral 3D embossing folder. This was trimmed into 2 panels measuring 5 1/4 by 2 7/8.  Phew that was a lot of maths!!

The embossed panel were adhered to the gate fold portion of the gate fold card base and set aside.

Next I took the shell and starfish images from the Lighthouse stamp set and stamped them using the ink colours mentioned above. Note that I used the darkest shade from each colour family for the outlines. Then I took the lighter shade of each colour and ink blended the images using the co-ordinating stencils. I concentrated the colour towards the base of each shell/starfish to add some dimension.

Once I'd cut out all the images using the matching dies I stacked each die cut on 2 additional white layers to make them more sturdy. I adhered the die cuts to the left hand flap of the card in rainbow order, making sure they slightly overlapped the gate fold edge of the card base. I think this makes it a little more interesting when you open the card.

The only thing left to do was to stamp and die cut a sentiment in Raven ink, which was glued to the centre of the card and add a few clear bubble embelishements. So there you have it, a clean and simple gate fold card! I really enjoyed making this as it demonstrates that you don't always have to use the larger images in a stamp set to create a pretty card design.

Thanks for reading and I'll catch up with you all again next month! bye!
