Scalloped Arch Shaped Christmas Card

Hi all, Kirstynn here with some Christmas card idea.

I love using large shaped dies to create card bases and today I'm going to show you a quick way to do just that.

Today we are using the following supplies.

Olive Branch Hybrid Ink

Evergreen Hybrid Ink

Iced Tea Hybrid Ink

Dan-D-Lion Hybrid Ink

Stitched Scalloped Arched Dies

Christmas Inlay Stamps

Good Cheer Sentiments

To start I used the Christmas Inlay stamps and I used the deer image. I love how magical this deer feels. I stamped the greenery first in Olive branch using my stamping tool to make sure it stayed lined up for multiple stamping. I then went in with the Evergreen color and dapped off the ink in some areas to make some variance in color in the greenery.

Once I had that how I liked it, I used the Iced Tea Hybrid ink to stamp the deer. I used a clean dry rag to dab away some of the ink on the antlers. I stamped this 3-4 times. Each times lightly dabbing away some of the ink  on the antlers. After doing this a couple times, it made the deer dark and the antlers really light. This is a great way to get more than one color out of the same ink pad.

Once I had my image complete, I started with the card base. For this I used the Stitched Scalloped Arches and cut out two of the same shape. I then scored one of them at the 3/8 mark as shown below.

Next I used a strong adhesive along the edge of the one that is scored and adhered the non-scored one on top. This will create a hinge where the score line is and keep the front one smooth with out a score line.

I then cut out my image in a smaller arch and used some foam tape to adhere it to my new card base. You can use this method with any large shaped dies you may have.

I then added my sentiment. If I were to do it again, I would recommend stamping the sentiment before adding it to the card base. It's much easier that way and you get a better stamped image. I also added some stars around the sentiment and on top of the tree.

I hope you enjoyed crafting today.
