Under the Sea Ink Blended Cards
Hi all, It's Jen here and I'm back with more inspiration for July using the latest Beach Days Collection.
Do you ever have days when you want to make a card with a detailed image but don't feel like colouring? Well that was me! So I choose to make 2 quick and simple cards using ink blending and some masking, showing that you don't always need to colour an image to make a beautiful card!
Read on to find out how I made them.

First I took 2 top folding, white US A2 note cards and masked of a section at the bottom with some masking tape from my stash. For the card on the right I masked off approximately 1 inch from the bottom. On the card on the left I decided I wanted more white space so masked off the bottom 1/3 of the card base.
Next I took water reactive ink in a light purple, teal and aqua shades and ink blended each card base. Once I'd finished the ink blending I splattered on to clean water and lifted some of the ink with a paper towel. I think this adds to the overall watery background.
Then without removing the masking tape I stamped my images in a darker teal ink. For the lighthouse card I stamped the whole image, slightly off setting it to the left.
On the second card I created my own patterned paper using smaller images from both the Lighthouse and Sea Shack Stamp Sets. When creating a background like this I always allow some of the images to bleed off the card base for visual interest.
While the backgrounds were drying, I stamped, coloured and stenciled the shells from the Lighthouse Stamp Set. Making sure to use the same colours that I used in the background to tie it all together. Then cut them out with the co-ordinating dies.
I removed the masking tape from the backgrounds once the ink had dried. Then stamped a sentiment in dark teal ink and arranged the shells to the right hand side with liquid glue and foam tape.
To finish these cards off I added some shine by adhering some iridescent clear pearls in groups of 2 or 3. I love that these look like bubbles adding to the under water theme.
I hope you've enjoyed learning how I made these cards and I'll catch you all again soon!
Bye!
