Watercolor Wreath

Hi everyone! It's Jen here. I hope your all getting into the holiday spirit.

Have you ever been so intimated by an stamp set that you were worried about using it? Well that's exactly how I felt about the set that I used this month. Turns out though that I didn't need to be because the finished project turned out very cute!

Products Used

EverWelcome Wreath 4x6 Stamps – LDRS Creative

Watermark Emboss Pad – LDRS Creative

8.5" x 11" Cotton Watercolor Paper Pack – LDRS Creative

I started by cutting down a piece of LDRS Creative Watercolor paper down to 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" into a card panel and placed it into a stamp positioning tool. Then I coated the surface with anti-static powder and stamped the wreath image with clear watercolor ink. I stamped it 2-3 times to ensure I got a good impression. Next I sprinkled on some fine gold embossing powder and heat set it with a heat gun.

Once I'd finished the embossing I dug out some watercolors and a few detail paint brushes and set colored the image. I allowed each layer of watercolor dry before adding extra more. This helps to add shading and dimension.

To ground the image I stippled on some pale blue watercolor which also adds and depth and texture.

I added a sentiment that I gold heat embossed onto some red cardstock and adhered below the wreath on some foam tape. Unfortunately the sentiment set is a retired product but there are plenty more sentiment sets available in the LDRS Creative store. The card was finished off with some gold sequins for a little shine.

I was really pleased with how this turned out and proved to myself that sometimes forcing yourself out of your comfort zone can really pay off. I hope that inspires you to tackle a project that you find intimidating too!

Catch you all again next month! Bye!
