8.5" x 11" Cotton Watercolor Paper Pack – LDRS Creative
I began by trimming down a full sheet of 8'5" x11" Cotton Watercolor Card Stock into a US A2 panel measuring 5.5" x 4 1/4" that I taped down to a hardboard with low tack masking tape. Then using 2 flat watercolor brushes of different widths and a T-square ruler painted on some stripes with some pastel watercolours. In order to get some well defined brush strokes I used a dry brush technique and a light hand to build up color. I also dried each stripe with a heat tool before moving onto the next color. This enabled me to avoid contaminating the colors. Next I took a small round brush and splattered with a more concentrated version of each color whilst using scraps of cardstock to mask off each stripe. This adds some fun texture to my background.
Once the panel was dry I stamped on the largest image from the Macaron Stamp set onto the panel and die cut it out with the coordinating die. I then added my panel onto another piece of watercolor cardstock and trimmed it to 5" x 3 3/4" and adhered into a card base. I added foam tape to the back of the Macaron image and added back onto the panel right over the area it was die cut from giving an eclipse effect.
I stamped and die cut a sentiment and also attached it to the card with foam tape. Finally I finished the card off with some gold confetti. I love the clean and simple look of the card with its pastel colors and ample white space. I hope this inspires you to make a clean and simple card too!
Catch you all again soon!
