Fun backpack-shaped card
Hello everyone ! Lounon here !
Today, I’m sharing a fun backpack-shaped card I created using various LDRS products . Perfect for summer vacation crafting!
Products used :
Great Outdoors Postage Collage 4×6 Stamps
Quilted Plaid A2 Coverplate Die
I started by cutting two pieces of kraft cardstock using the largest arch die from the Stitched Scallop Arch Dies (approximately 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" / 10.8 cm x 14 cm).
On one of the arches, I used the same die again to trim down the top, creating the front flap of the backpack.
For the full base piece, I added texture using the Quilted Plaid A2 Coverplate Die.
Next, I cut a 2 1/8" x 1 15/16" ( 8 cm x 4.9 cm) rectangle using the Pinpoint Rectangles Dies from kraft cardstock (I used the leftover bottom part of the trimmed arch). This will be the pocket for the backpack.
I stamped the beautiful Delightful Dahlias on both the front flap and the pocket using brown ink.
To give a bit more depth and dimension, I lightly inked the edges of all three kraft pieces (base, flap, and pocket) with brown ink.
For the straps, I cut four strips: two 0.5" (1 cm) wide from kraft cardstock and two 11/16" (1.7 cm) wide from brown cardstock.
I added texture to the kraft strips using the Quilted Plaid A2 Coverplate Die, then layered them onto the brown strips to create matted straps.
Next, I stamped images from the Great Outdoors Postage Collage Stamps set onto kraft cardstock using a mix of brown and pink ink. I cut them out using the coordinating Postage Collage Dies.
To add dimension, I also die-cut some matching shapes (square, round, and rectangle) with the coordinate dies from thick cardstock and layered them behind the stamped images like little travel badges.
For the buckles, I used the two square dies together to create open frames from brown cardstock.
I glued the front flap and the pocket onto the backpack base using foam pads for extra dimension.
Then, I placed the straps where I wanted them, trimmed the tops using the same arch die for a clean fit, and glued them down. I added the buckles and finished decorating the card with all the “badges.”
To turn this into a shaped card, I folded a 8 3/4"" x 5 3/4" / 22.2 cm × 14.6 cm piece of cardstock in half and placed the arch die so that a bit of the side edge hung off the fold (to keep the hinge intact). I die-cut it and glued the finished backpack piece on top.
Et voilà !
I hope this gives you some crafty inspiration for your next project!
May the craft be with you !
