Holly Jolly Christmas
Hi there, It's Jennifer here I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. I'm back to share a new card design with you all today.
I enjoy making slimline cards but I'm always looking to get more out of my dies and love finding new ways to use them. So this month I've decided to take one of my favourite slimline dies and adapt it to create a non-traditional US A2 sized card.
I started with a kraft coloured 4.25" x 5.5" top folding card base. To make the card more interesting I rounded off the bottom left and right corners. For the card front I used the same kraft cardstock cut at 3.75" x 5" and matted it onto a white card layer measuring 4" x 5.25".
Next I cut the Birdhouses Border Die – LDRS Creative from kraft, white, pink and mint cardstock along with some circles measuring 1.25" . The birdhouses were cut from the bottom strip of the die cut then I carefully trimmed off the roof tops and other details following the embossed lines on each one.
Then I paper pieced the birdhouses back together using constrasting colours and layered them onto the circle mats to create small toppers.
The sentiment was taken from the Peace & Joy 6x8 Pirouette Stamps – LDRS Creative and white heat embossed onto kraft carstock.
Finally to finish off the card, I placed 4 of the toppers and the sentiment onto the card front with some foam tape to add a little dimension and interest.
I hope this inspires you to use your own dies in new and unique ways!! Thanks for reading.
