Monochrome Masterpiece

Hi Everyone, it's Jen here. I'm back to share this lovely monochromatic card using some products from the LDRS Creative November release! I don't know about you but I love a clean and simple card design. One way to acheive the look is to use a limited colour palette like I've done with this card.
I decided to make by own patterned paper so I used the Gingham Check 6x6 Stencil - 2 Pack – LDRS Creative and some Marina Madness – LDRS Creative hybrid ink to create this fun background. The gingham check is a layering stencil and comes with 2 designs, one with striped checks the other with solid ones. I took the first stencil and used a light hand to apply ink to the striped pattern then a heavier hand when inking over the solid pattern. This is a good technique if you have limited ink colours as it gives the illusion that you've used both a light and dark ink. It also adds some depth and dimension to any design. After inking I set the panel aside to dry and began working on the sentiment.
For this I took the "Hi Friend" sentiment from the brand new Square Phrase Insert Dies – LDRS Creative and die cut it from some dark teal textured card and some matt gold card from my stash. I wanted to add some dimension to the letters so I cut the sentiment twice more from some scraps of white card.  I inlayed and stacked the white letters into the teal layer and topped them with the gold letters for some added shine.
I used the same dark teal cardstock to cut a shadow layer using the scalloped layer from the Double Stitched Scalloped Square Dies – LDRS Creative. I popped the sentiment up on some foam tape and added it to the shadow layer.
By the time I'd finished with the greeting, the stencilled background was dry so I used a paper trimmer to cut it down to 5x5 inches and layered it onto more dark teal cardstock leaving a 1/8th inch border all the way around. I added the sentiment to the centre of the panel and finished the card with some gold pearls that I placed on both sides of the sentiment.  I think the little pop of gold really compliments the gorgeous teal of the ink and cardstock!
This was such an easy card to create and it would look great in any colour!
Until next time, happy crafting everyone!
