Rainbow Chalets

Sam here on blog. Who says a winter scene cannot have rainbows. Had lots of fun building this rainbow village with the super cute stamp set Winter Chalet. It is part of the recently released LDRS Creative With Affection Release. The set has lots of smaller stamps to allow for so many options for creating wintery scenic backgrounds. I wanted the rainbow chalets to really pop so kept the background a neutral colour.
Prep Work:
  • Cut a slim line card base (8 1/2”x 3 1/2”) out of black stock.

  • Cut a 3 1/2” x 8” white card panel.

  • Using the sentiment ‘Just a Note” from Floral Swag stamp set, stamp and emboss in white on black card stock. Die cut out with co-ordinating die. Cut 2 additional black pieces with co-ordinating die and layer behind the sentiment for depth.

Get the look:
  • Even though this is a really simple card to pull together, a stamp platform is useful for aligning and laying out the chalets.

  • Start by laying the first chalet stamp just off the edge of the white card panel, align the smaller chalet stamp next to it. Stamp, then align roofs and stamp them. Repeat until you have a rainbow of chalets. You should end with the last chalet also hanging off the other end of the card. LDRS Hybrid inks used are: Lipstick Jungle, Scarlet Rose, In Your Face Orange, Dan-D-Lion, Key Lime Pie, Evergreen, Bali Blue, Marina Madness, Plum Crazy and Grape Ape.

  • Using Little Boy Blue ink which is a subtle silver blue tone start laying out a background scene. I started with placing the big items first like the mountains and the snowy ground and lastly adding all the small images. Since background elements are all the same colour they make it very easy to overlay images without worrying about colour bleed.

  • BUILD CARD: Adhere the finished scene panel horizontally on the black card base so black bars show at both ends. Place and adhere the sentiment.

Hope you have fun building your own little winter scene. Happy papercrafting : )
