Shabby Chic Blooms

Hi everone! Its Jen here and I'm so happy to be back with you all, especially as today is my birthday! Spring is in the air and this month I wanted to bring you a beautiful bright and fresh card. I absolutely love the new Cherry Blossom Layering Dies – LDRS Creative.
The Cherry Blossom Layering Dies – LDRS Creative is a layering die that creates the most amazing dimensional flowers and buds. You can cut them from different shades of coloured cardstock but I wanted a softer look, so I cut the layers from watercolour card stock and painted them with liquid watercolours.
To do that I placed all the layers on a sticky mat and dabbed on small amounts of watercolor, allowed it to dry then applied more layers of paint. I think I used about 3 or 4 layers in total. This makes for a lovely soft and dreamy effect on the die cuts.
While I waited for them to dry I started on the background. I took an A2 white card panel and a scoreboard and scored it at 3/4 inch intervals starting at the centre and working outwards. This gives a more even look. Next I took a ruler and Alloy – LDRS Creative hybrid Ink cube. I placed the ruler along the score line and held the ink cube at an angle, then ran the ink along the edge of the ruler the define the scorelines. Then I swiped the ink pad along the left and right edges of the card panel and lightly brushed it along the surface to minic a woodgrain effect. The end result is a cute shabby chic farmhouse background.
By the time I'd finished the background the painted die cuts were dry, so I assembled them using the packaging as a reference. Layering dies can look intimatating but they come toegeather so easy and once you assemble one the rest are easy.
*Tip* You usually assemble from the largest die cut to the smallest.
To ground the image I cut a scallped circle from the Double Stitched Scalloped Circle Dies – LDRS Creative from white card stock. Layered on the inner circle from the die set and popped it into the centre of the card panel with foam tape. I arranged the floral die cuts onto the sclloped circle and adhered them flat with liquid glue.
I stamped a sentiment from the Love Wave Stack 4x6 Stamps – LDRS Creative with Watermark Emboss Pad – LDRS Creative onto some pale lilac shimmer cardstock and heat embossed in white. I used the Sentiment Stack Shadow Die - Wave – LDRS Creative to cut it out and applied it to the bottom.
To add a little more shine I finished off the card with some lilac pearls and added the card panel to a landscape A2 card base.
I love how clean and simple it turned out!
Bye for now, catch you all again next month x
