Stretching Stamp Supplies
Good morning and welcome back to the inspiration blog! Today I am making a card using a stamp, die and stencil bundle, but not using it in the way it was first intended. It’s good to pivot and be creative to stretch our supplies and get more creative uses out of them. Today’s card is featuring the Beach Days Postage Collage Stamp Set and coordinating Stencil set. I started this card with an A2 kraft cardstock panel diecut with the Nested Postage Collage Dies.
I then picked 3 images from the stencil set to add randomly to the card panel and stenciled in layers using the guides on the stencils. Each stencil is numbered so you can use in sequence. They are also etched to assist in lining up each image.
I chose the hammock, the sand castle and the beach chair with the umbrella images. I stenciled these using the following inks: Marina Madness, Swimming Hole, Snowy White, Kiss Me Red, Iced Tea, Coffee Bean, Key Lime Pie, & Evergreen. Some of these images use the same inks more than once, but layering the ink adds dimension and depth of color (as in the sand castle, it’s all Iced Tea except the last layer is Coffee Bean).
Once all the images are stenciled, I added the stamped postage sentiments. This set is designed to create a full sheet of postage stamp images, but I wanted to create a little different spin while still keeping the postal theme. I chose 3 sentiment stamps from the stamp set and stamped them in embossing ink. I heat embossed them in white and then re-stamped them and heat embossed them with iridescent embossing powder to add a little sparkle.
I also wanted to add a little sparkle and dimension to the stenciled images to I used a glitter pen to add sparkle to the umbrella and the sea and the flags on the sand castle. I also added a little shimmer paste to the white on the hammock using the stencil.
Lastly, to finish off this card, I adhered the panel to an A2 sea foam card base using foam strips. I them added some water dots for a little extra shine. I’m just in love with this beach set. It’s just so fun and inviting that I think anyone could enjoy receiving a card with this cute set.
I hope you find some time to get crafty today! Hugs, LeeAnn
