Tips for Creating Depth with Embossing Folders and Stencils

To truly maximize depth of the embossed image, make sure to do all you die cutting first. If you die cut second, it will flatten your embossed image.

Die cut the Stitched Scallop Arch out of thick card stock.
Emboss: Using the Magnolia 6x6 embossing folder, position the card stock arch shape over the area of the magnolia cluster you like, tape in place. Run thru die cut machine using the appropriate embossing plates.
- Tip: Emboss before stenciling. This creates raised sections and lower sections which naturally take less or more of the ink when you ink blend over the stencils.

Stencil and Ink Blend: Align the Magnolia stencils and ink blend over the petals and leaves. My chosen ink colours are Pink Tutu, Lipstick red (lightly applied) and Boysenberry Blast, Prickly Pear and Evergreen.
- Tip: Stretch your colours by creating light pink and dark pink depending on how heavily you ink blend.
- Tip: Randomly applying similar ink tones produces petals with a large variety of colour blends.
- Also note the high embossed edges catch the colour more than the lower valley’s.
Stamp Sentiment: Pick and stamp a sentiment. Since there is no black on the card, I went with a more subtle blue letterpress sentiment from Arches Thank You Impress-ion Press. Adhere sentiment.
Assemble Card: Adhere a second die cut Stitched Scallop Arch panel to the back to create an arched card.
