Vintage Inspiration with Wildflower Layered Botanicals
Hello and welcome back to the Inspiration Blog. Today, I am sharing a card made with the new Wildflower Layered Botanicals stamp set. This card has a vintage look to it and I would love to share how I achieved it.
This card is an A2, top folding card with a white card base. The top card panel is die cut using the Hand Torn Rectangle dies. I then positioned the card panel in my Misti and started stamping the layered flowers first. The flowers in the Wildflower Layered Botanicals stamp set have two layers to add dimension. There is a stamping guide on the back panel to assist in layering the stamps.
I stamped the bottom layer of each flower first with the lightest color, then stamped the top layer with the darkest color. I used the following inks for my flowers and leaves: Pink Tutu, Lipstick Jungle, Fairie Dust, Parisian Purple, Prickly Pear, and Olive Branch. I stamped all of the flowers first, along the left edge of the card panel. I then masked each flower, and proceeded to fill in with the leaves along the same edge.
When finished, I removed the masks and added a couple of little individual buds and some gold accents with the dot stamp from the set.
Next, I ink blended the edge of the card with Pink Tutu to give a faint hint of color and only around the edge. I left the center of the card white. This adds to the vintage feel of the card, in my opinion.
For the sentiment, I used the Circle Phrase Insert Dies. However, I only used the lettering from the Miss You sentiment. I did, however, use the die cut to help align the letters. Before die cutting, I ink blended Pink Tutu ink on a piece of white card stock in a fading, ombre effect. The die cut thus has a fading appearance and gets darker at the bottom. I cut the letters three times and glued them together for added dimension, then adhered them with liquid glue to the card panel. I finished the sentiment off with a touch of sparkle with a shimmering marker.
To finish off the card, I adhered the card panel using foam strips and added some sparkle with embellishments down the front. I love the simple vintage look of the card and the little pops of color from the flowers and leaves. What would you change up? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
