To the moon and back!
Hi all, It's Jen here and I'm back with another blog post for you. This month I decided to shake things up a bit and make a square card instead of my normal US A2 sized ones. To be honest I struggle with designing square cards but the Pirouette Pattern Templates – LDRS Creative make it so much easier.
The Pirouette Pattern Templates – LDRS Creative is a set comes of 4 different templates that help you design patterns for your cards. This is the first time I have used this set so decided to keep it simple, so I used the Master Template and set it up in my stamping platform following the instruction booklet thats included.
Then I took a piece of dark blue card stock cut to 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches and lined it up with the red grid lines on the master template. I placed the cute smiling star from Never Stop Dreaming 4x6 Stamps – LDRS Creative in the 6 o'clock position on the template and stamped it in Raven – LDRS Creative Then I rotated the cardstock 45 degrees, lined it up the the red gridlines and stamped the image again. I repeated the process until I had returned to my starting position. The next step was to stamp the smaller star from the Never Stop Dreaming 4x6 Stamps – LDRS Creative in between the larger ones to create a circular pattern.
Next I took Dark Wash Jeans – LDRS Creative and Raven – LDRS Creative and blended it onto the edges of the panel to add some depth and contrast, then splattered the background with gold water colour paint. While that was drying, I stamped out the moon from Never Stop Dreaming 4x6 Stamps – LDRS Creative and the smiling heart from the same set 8 times onto white card stock and coloured with alcohol markers. I fussy cut the images and used a black marker to line the edges to disguise the white card and to hide any imperfections in my fussy cutting.
The stars were adhered flat over the black outines on the background and the mood was popped up on black foam tape and placed in the centre of the design.
I layered my finished background onto some matt gold and navy cardstock. The card front was adhered to a card base measuring 5 x 5 Inches.
I added the sentiment "I love you to the moon and back" from Love Wave Stack 4x6 Stamps – LDRS Creative that was gold heat embossed onto navy cardstock and cut out using the coordinating Wave Ribbon Stack Coordinating Die – LDRS Creative
To add dimenSion I cut 3 more banners and stacked them behind the heat embossed sentiment and added it to the bottom of the card.
As a last bit of embellishment I added some gold gems and my card was complete. I think it turned out great!
Catch you all again soon!
Beautiful card. I love the colors!!
